Where I Stand is a Scarborough Youth PhotoVoice Project mentorship program that trains youth (ages 16-21) in participatory photography methods and the core photography skills they will use to run a PhotoVoice photography workshop in their community. Digital cameras will be provided to all youth for use during the workshop. This program is made possible in partnership with ArtReach.”

Art City in St. James Town is a not-for-profit organization that provides after-school and weekend multidisciplinary art programs, free of charge, to the children and youth who reside in the community. Art City is fully integrated into one of Canada’s most densely populated and culturally diverse neighbourhoods. The Board of Directors of Art City seeks a volunteer Board Chair with relevant professional experience to support Art City. The Board provides support in fundraising, strategic development, promoting the mission of Art City and supports the long-term success of the organization.

Art City is currently accepting applications to fill 3-year term volunteer vacancies on the Board of Directors. Art City is interested in individuals with both personal and professional experience in any two of the following areas:

  • Business development and financial management
  • Fundraising (including professional fundraising and knowledge of receiving funds)
  • Funder and government relationship building
  • Arts education
  • Not-for-profit charitable organization management

CHRC is extending the application deadline for its Talent to Lead program Year 3 (T2L 3) to October 5, 2018.

20 cultural leaders from Indigenous, racialized and official language minority communities across Canada who are seeking to advance to the next level of leadership in Canada’s cultural sector, will be selected to participate in this third cohort of the program.

The goal of T2L is to develop and accelerate leadership skills and capacity and strengthen your networks through peer-group learning and one-on-one mentorship with an executive-level cultural leader.

The program offers a series of learning webinars that focus on leadership and HR management fundamentals and competencies. Alongside the webinar learning series, participants will work with their mentors over 8 months and gain insight into how to put their learning into practice to advance their careers.

As well as the mentorships and webinar training, this year there will be regional gatherings across the country to bring together participants from the three T2L cohorts for a one-day learning exchange. The gatherings will include training on harassment and discussions on key issues impacting the sector’s cultural leaders today.

Call for Applications: Mikw Chiyâm Teaching Artist Residency 2018

Mikw Chiyâm is accepting applications from artists of any discipline to work with secondary school (high school) students in Eeyou Istchee, the Cree Nation in Northern Québec for 6 weeks at a time. This is a paid position (fee of $7,500 + travel, per diem, and housing provided) and artists get to work on their own projects at the same time. Experience teaching is an asset but not a requirement. The program mostly takes place in English.”
