In 1997, a group of artists came together committed to enhancing the wellbeing of professional performing and creative artists as well as students in, and teachers at, recognized post-secondary arts institutions. The Artists’ Health Alliance (formerly the Artists’ Health Centre Foundation) was formed, with a vision of creating a centre for holistic treatment and comprehensive health education and outreach.

The Artists’ Health Alliance is a one of a kind organization. We are about partnership between the artistic and medical community for healing, strengthening and empowering the creative community. We are accomplishing this through our volunteer committees, the Christine Ardagh Education & Outreach Program, management of the Joysanne Sidimus Fund and our partnership with the excellent team at The Al & Malka Green Artists’ Health Centre, Toronto Western Hospital.
  • Mandate/Mission:
The Artists’ Health Alliance: provides leadership in health advocacy, promotion, and education for artists of all disciplines; supports artists’ use of specialized arts medicine and the integrative healthcare facility at The Al & Malka Green Artists’ Health Centre at Toronto Western Hospital; and through active networking and research is a catalyst for advancing the health and wellbeing of our artistic community.
  • Additional Info:
What is the difference between the Artists’ Health Alliance and The Al & Malka Green Artists’ Health Centre?
The Artists’ Health Alliance (Alliance) exists to support the overall health and wellbeing of our artistic community. This is accomplished through management of the Joysanne Sidimus Fund, for artists to access specialized and integrative healthcare at The Al & Malka Green Artists’ Health Centre, and by providing programming through the Christine Ardagh Education & Outreach Program.

The Al and Malka Green Artists’ Health Centre (Centre) is a facility in the Family and Community Medicine Program at the Toronto Western Hospital.

The Centre’s inter-professional team offers both medical and complementary care to professional creative and performing artists, and students in, and teachers at, recognized post-secondary arts institutions. The Centre’s mandate includes research, education, and outreach to the arts community.

The Alliance works in partnership with Toronto Western Hospital to ensure that programs and services at the clinic are responsive to the needs of the community, and to promote the clinic within the artistic community.
