Get Involved! Give an ArtBox

We’d like to help you send boxes of art supplies to people who could use them – people who have limited or no access to art supplies in communities in Canada due to financial constraints or community remoteness. You can collect contributions for an ArtBox through:

  • Art supply drives in classrooms and offices
  • Holiday parties
  • Donation boxes where you volunteer

ArtBridges/ToileDesArts’ will suggest or facilitate a match with communities that need ArtBoxes. We’ll directly connect you with community-engaged arts initiatives so that you can make arrangements to deliver the ArtBox.

Here are some starter ideas for ArtBoxes for community arts initiatives in remote, under-resourced and under-served communities.

  • For youth: a sharpie and sketchbook could be an outlet for creativity, self-expression and exploration
  • For children: a craft kit, paints, crayons or paper could bring out the budding artists
  • For someone accessing drop-ins or shelters: art supplies can provide a respite from life’s challenges and a chance for people to engage in an activity together that’s creative, recreational and informally therapeutic

An ArtBox story to inspire you

In November 2012, ArtBridges/ToileDesArts’ assisted Southern Youth in Motion, a project of the Mamow Sha-way-gi-kay-win: North South Partnership for Children with guidance about the solicitation of art supplies for youth from remote North Ontario communities. …“We could not be happier with our relationshipwith ArtBridges/ToileDesArts’ and are so thankful to Seanna and Cora-Rae who have really gone above and beyond to support our campaign and especially support our youth in the north.”
