Adapted Dance: A Place in the ChoirAdapted Dances | ON | 2018

"Move N' Mingle is an adapted dance program, for people with intellectual disabilities that operates at the Prosserman Jewish Community Centre in Toronto Canada. We serve a diverse group of individuals and have been dancing together for over 10 years, with the help of some very dedicated volunteers. Our dance repertoire consists of modified folk dances as well as dances that have been specifically choreographed for our group, according to the musical preferences of the participants. We thank a generous donor for sponsoring this video series.

A Place in the Choir, is a dance that has been choreographed for Move N Mingle. The lyrics of the song connect to our program in many ways.

Chorus--gestures to represent lyrics
All God's creatures got a place in the choir:
Hold hands up to mouth representing singing
Some sing low and some sing higher:
Bend down low to touch floor, then stand and reach high
Some sing out loud on a telephone wire:
Pull hands away from each other, tracing a telephone wire in the air, and bounce a bit to represent a bouncy phone wire
Some just clap their hands, or paws, or anything they've got now:
Clap 6 times

Verse:
Walk towards centre with three steps and kick ,
back out of centre with three steps and kick,
Walk towards centre with three steps and kick ,
Back out 2 steps and then do a large body circular sway
