“Feathers of Hope is a youth-led initiative to facilitate dialogue between youth, First Nations leadership, and government. The first Feathers of Hope forum in 2013 convened First Nations youth delegates from across Ontario to speak to issues they were experiencing within their communities. The findings and recommendations brought forward by the youth delegates were published in Feathers of Hope: A First Nations Youth Action Plan. Feathers of Hope is based in the Office of the Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth.
Feathers of Hope: Justice and Juries will be the follow-up to the 2014 action plan. In November of last year, young people re-convened in Thunder Bay to speak specifically to the lack of First Nations representation on juries.
And Also Too is looking to collaborate with a self-identified First Nations artist on an original artwork to appear on the report cover for Feathers of Hope: Justice and Juries, as well as posters that promote the work of Feathers of Hope. The artwork will respond to content written by First Nations youth and will touch on themes of healing, community, and justice. It will be produced in a similar fashion to the original Feathers of Hope artwork (see below), but the aesthetic of the 2D drawing will be defined by the artist.
