“Emergence is a partnership by Neighbourhood Arts Network, a strategic initiative of Toronto Arts Foundation. This opportunity offers artists and community leaders valuable resources, facilitation skills, peer-to-peer learning opportunities and insights that will empower the community engaged arts sector and further promote more inclusiveness and equitable conditions within the neighbourhoods that our community engaged artists work.
The Emergence Symposium is a full day conference with four days of community arts activations leading up to the main event (Nov 19-23) . Emergence will convene over 200 community engaged arts practitioners, policy makers and community leaders for reciprocal knowledge exchange and critical discussions surrounding the theme of Arts and Equity. This large-scale symposium will build on the equity dialogue and issues that Neighbourhood Arts Network and its members have explored since the network was founded in 2010.
We invite artists, arts organizations, curators, arts practitioners at any stage in their career/practice to submit proposals for art activations, artist talks, and workshops. We welcome perspectives that are intersectional and encourage proposals from Deaf and disability cultures, artists with lived experiences including LGBTQQIIA, Indigenous, Black and Persons of Colour
All art disciplines are welcome. Deadline for submission: June 10, 2018″
All those interested in the open call are encouraged to contact angie[at]torontoarts[dot]org.
