As ArtBridges’ Community-Engaged Arts Directory grows, we realize that it’s a bit overwhelming to read through all of the profiles. We’re hoping that by occasionally highlighting some profiles on our blog, you may learn about an initiative that you may not have initially seen in the directory. Also, if you know of a Canadian community-engaged arts for social change initiative that isn’t in our directory, but should be, please let us know! We love and need your input/feedback in building this resource! -Lisa, Content Coordinator at ArtBridges.
“Founded in 2006 and incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 2011, FiXT POiNT is a Toronto-based arts & media company with national reach. To date we’ve interviewed over 3000 Canadians from every province and territory in almost 200 communities in our storymobiles (recording studios on wheels). We have aired dozens of audio stories on CBC (Fresh Air, Podcast Playlist, Holiday Programming etc.), edited and posted hundreds of oral histories on our storymap and recently produced two seasons of a TV/Web Series for TVO. Most recently we were awarded Touring Artist of the Year from CAPACOA (Canadian Arts Presenting Association).”
