“Disrupting the Norm: the Thomas Poulsen Symposium on Disability and Mixed Ability Performing Arts is a two-day gathering featuring co-creative workshops, critical thinking discussions, video showings and community building.
We invite you to join professional artists on Nov. 1–2, 2019 in the Reeve Theatre, as we open up conversations exploring disability art, aesthetics, creative process, education, and belonging, while celebrating individual perspectives and ensemble practices. This will be a valuable opportunity to connect with artists whose practices are inclusive and diverse, and to be creative with people who are interested in broadening their artistic spectrum.
The symposium is for Professional and aspiring artists who experience disability, community members who experience disability and those who do not, and all artists and performers interested in investing in new perspectives on art-making. Fine arts education, pedagogy, and performance students and faculty members in both elementary and secondary education.
We are committed to making this event as accessible as possible for everyone who would like to attend. Please let us know how we create a more accessible and affirming event by emailing your access needs.
The symposium is free, but we do ask you to register to confirm your participation by Monday, Oct. 21, 2019.
