There is an incredible project going on that gives children in Northern Ontario Communities access to seeing the World’s First Cree Language Opera Pimooteewin by Tomson Highway.
Artists from the production have headed up a few weeks before the opera tour to run workshops with children in schools. Workshops are on movement, dance, music, storytelling as well as talking about opera.
“ Many [of the children] have never been to a live performance or experienced opera, these workshops give them the context to engage more deeply with it” said Allison McColl of Soundstreams Canada.
