Call for Artists!: Apply to be part of The PATCH Project (Toronto)

The PATCH Project provides artists with opportunities to exhibit their work in public – raising their profile while transforming Toronto’s streets.
We partner with landowners and developers to showcase the work of local artists around construction sites and get them the exposure they need to move their career in the arts forward.

PATCH can help YOU:

  • develop your portfolio
  • get paid for exhibiting your work
  • join a community of like-minded creative professionals
  • build a foundation for your career in Toronto’s cultural sector

Our city has millions of feet of construction hoarding (the walls that go up around construction sites) that can be the home for your next work of art (or the exhibition of your existing artwork)!

What is PATCH, and what do we do?
PATCH installs permanent and temporary art in underused spaces, like construction sites. We collaborate with local artists, landowners, and property developers to create an ongoing exhibition that not only beautifies the streetscape, but strengthens community ties around our installations. We:
identify potential sites for public art
recruit Toronto area artists of the highest calibre for site-specific work;
liaise between artists, property owners / developers, and construction companies to develop customized creative solutions that animate Toronto’s public realm; and
manage the logistics of making this all happen!

PATCH is a project of the STEPS Initiative, an award-winning public arts organization that builds the capacity of citizens to take action in creating more vibrant and connected communities. Since 2010, STEPS has led several large-scale public art installations (including the World’s Tallest Mural) through which they have engaged thousands of community members of all ages and received numerous awards.”
