What is a Timeraiser?

The Timeraiser is a silent art auction with a twist. Instead of bidding money, participants bid volunteer time to agencies that need their skills and energy.  We buy all artwork at fair market value beforehand and auction it off on the night of the Timeraiser.  The 8th Toronto Timeraiser will be held on Saturday March 19th at the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District. Successful auction bidders have 12 months to complete their volunteer pledge. When they do, they bring the artwork home as a reminder of their goodwill. To date, the Timeraiser has generated 77,000 volunteer hours and invested $410,000 in the careers of emerging Canadian artists.

“INTRODUCTION
The Timeraiser supports emerging and mid-career artists like few other community events do: artists are paid fair market value for their work instead of being asked to donate their creativity. The art is then auctioned off at the Timeraiser to raise volunteer hours for the community. To date, the Timeraiser has invested over $310,000 in the careers of more than 450 artists across the country.

HOW THE CALL WORKS
The call is open to all visual artists. You can submit an application by going to our easy online tool and creating an artist account. The Timeraiser pays fair market value up to $800 (including framing). A well-rounded volunteer jury will then select the pieces that will be purchased for the Timeriaser.
