TISSAGE\/CONNEXION EN ONTARIO FRANCOPHONE – JUIN \u00c0 SEPTEMBRE 2012<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

– J\u2019ai commenc\u00e9 avec 18 contacts pour l\u2019Ontario francophone, dont 5 ressources, 10 organisations, 2 centres d\u2019artistes et 1 festival.<\/span>
\n– Depuis le mois de juin, J\u2019ai trouv\u00e9 et affich\u00e9 des profiles pour 5 nouveaux contacts: Voix Visuelle, La Catapulte (Club des Mordus), Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Fran\u00e7ais, Focus Art, et Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Action.<\/span>
\n– J\u2019ai r\u00e9tabli le contact avec 12 de nos partenaires originaux, et j\u2019ai pu mettre \u00e0 jour les informations, puis raffermir notre d\u00e9sir d\u2019approfondir nos \u00e9changes.<\/span><\/p>\n

J\u2019ai tellement appris de chose au sujet du secteur des arts communautaires en Ontario francophone au cours des derniers quatre mois. D\u00e9butant avec 18 contacts re\u00e7u d\u2019Alexa ( 5 ressources, 10 organizations,2 centres d\u2019art et 1 festival) j\u2019ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 rejoindre des gens qui n\u2019avaient pas entendu de la ToileDesArts\/ArtBridges depuis un bon bout, dans certains cas presque deux ans! Ce que j\u2019ai trouv\u00e9 \u00e0 travers ce proc\u00e8s et une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de r\u00e9ponses et de besoins. Certains de nos ressources, tel que le R\u00e9seau Ontario et AGAVF m\u2019ont point\u00e9 dans la direction d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nements courants et de nouvelles initiatives dans la communaut\u00e9. J\u2019ai eu le plaisir de d\u00e9couvrir plusieurs projets, et de contribuer 5 nouveaux profiles au r\u00e9seau, tel que Voix Visuelle, qui offre des ateliers de Photoshop gratuitement aux jeunes francophones, et \u201cLe Club des Mordus\u201d au th\u00e9\u00e2tre La Catapulte, un programme gratuit pour les ados qui monte deux grandes productions par ann\u00e9e. Ces deux-ci sont situ\u00e9s \u00e0 Ottawa.<\/span><\/p>\n

J\u2019ai aussi eu la chance d\u2019\u00e9tablir un bon dialogue avec quelques organizations incroyables \u00e0 Toronto et Ottawa, dont Le Labo, qui continue \u00e0 offrir des ateliers et des opportunit\u00e9s pour des artistes en arts m\u00e9diatiques francophones.\u00a0 Deux projets particuli\u00e8rement int\u00e9ressants sont une collaboration avec l\u2019Alliance Fran\u00e7aise sur une intervention urbaine \u00e0 venir au printemps 2013, et un \u00e9change cin\u00e9matographique avec des maisons de productions chez nos voisins de l\u2019est au Qu\u00e9bec.<\/span><\/p>\n

De plus, divers \u00e9v\u00e9nements spectaculaires se sont d\u00e9roul\u00e9s cet \u00e9t\u00e9 en c\u00e9l\u00e9bration de la francophonie ontarienne, notamment la premi\u00e8re Nuit Blanche \u00e0 Ottawa, et \u201cLe festival en vert et blanc\u201d organis\u00e9 par MIFO qui a eu lieu au mois de septembre.<\/span><\/p>\n

Un des plus gros d\u00e9fi pour moi \u00e9tait d\u2019atteindre nos contacts plus \u00e9loign\u00e9s g\u00e9ographiquement de 2010 et 2011. Dans certains cas, des horaires charg\u00e9s entraient en conflits avec l\u2019\u00e9tablissement d\u2019un contact, en outre du fait que l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 est souvent un temps plus tranquille pour beaucoup d\u2019organisations. Aussi, malgr\u00e9 multiples \u00e9v\u00e9nements et d\u2019ateliers uniques, il y a toujours un besoin pour des projets abordables plus soutenus et \u00e0 long terme, en plus d\u2019outils pour mieux connecter avec les coins du nord et de l\u2019ouest de la province.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le sentiment g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de nos partenaires communautaires que j\u2019ai cueilli de ma recherche est un d\u00e9sir de propager leurs travaux. Les gens veulent partager ce qu\u2019ils font avec le plus grand publique possible afin de faire cro\u00eetre l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat dans leur programmes. Ceci \u00e0 entra\u00een\u00e9 la ToileDesArts \u00e0 agir comme forum ou l\u2019on a pu diffuser des annonces de festivaux, des appels aux artistes et quelques entrevues port\u00e9es sur des activit\u00e9s florissantes dans la province.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Plus r\u00e9cemment, j\u2019ai \u00e9t\u00e9 heureuse d\u2019entendre de d\u00e9veloppements int\u00e9ressantes dans la r\u00e9gion de Cornwall, SDG et Akwesasne. Il y a quelques semaines seulement, la SADC (Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u2019aide aux d\u00e9veloppement des collectivit\u00e9s d\u2019Ontario) a organis\u00e9 un Sommet des Art, auquel la communaut\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 invit\u00e9e \u00e0 partager de l\u2019art et d\u2019assister \u00e0 des discussions, mais le plus important \u00e9tait l\u2019\u00e9lection d\u2019un nouveaux conseil des arts pour la r\u00e9gion. M\u00eame que le projet soit encore tout jeune, l\u2019espoir est grand que ceci aidera \u00e0 la continuation du d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019une communaut\u00e9 d\u00e9j\u00e0 tr\u00e8s active, et de fournir des outils et d\u2019opportunit\u00e9s pour la croissance du milieu artistique. J\u2019ai h\u00e2te de voir ce qui est \u00e0 venir!<\/span><\/p>\n

ARTBRIDGING\/CONNECTING IN FRANCOPHONE ONTARIO – JUNE TO SEPTEMBER 2012<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

– I started with 18 contacts for Francophone Ontario, 5 resources, 10 organizations, 2 art centres and 1 festival.<\/span>
\n– Since June, I have found and profiled 5 additional organizations: Voix Visuelle, La Catapulte (Club des Mordus), Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Fran\u00e7ais, Focus Art, Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Action.<\/span>
\n– I reestablished contact with 12 of our existing and previously profiled partners, updating contacts, information and letting them know we want to keep getting to know them better.<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the course of the summer and early fall, I have gotten to know so much more about Francophone Community Arts in Ontario. Starting with 18 contacts initially reached by Alexa (5 resources, 10 organizations, 2 art centres and 1 festival) I began to reconnect with people who hadn\u2019t heard from ArtBridges\/ToileDesArts in a while, in some cases in almost two years! What I\u2019ve found through this process is a variety of responses and needs. Starting with resources like R\u00e9seau Ontario and AGAVF, I was pointed to upcoming events and new initiatives. I have had the pleasure of discovering several projects, and contributed 5 new profiles to our network, such as Voix Visuelle, which offers free Photoshop workshops to francophone youth, and \u201cLe club des mordus\u201d at Th\u00e9\u00e2tre La Catapulte, a free theatre program for teens that puts on two major productions a year, both located in Ottawa.<\/span><\/p>\n

I have also had the chance to establish deeper dialogue with some amazing organizations in Toronto and Ottawa, such as Le Labo, which continues to offer opportunities and workshops to digitally-based artists, while delving into some creative artbridging of its own! Collaborating with Alliance Fran\u00e7aise on an Urban Intervention Project taking place in Spring 2013, and crossing provincial borders in a cinematographic exchange with independent Quebec production houses, this centre is making some great links. In addition, many spectacular cultural events took place over the summer in celebration of francophone Ontario, namely Ottawa\u2019s first ever Nuit Blanche, and \u201cLe festival en vert et blanc\u201d, hosted by MIFO this past September.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some challenges I faced were in reaching our more geographically remote contacts made in 2010 and 2011. In some cases, charged schedules conflicted with making connections, in addition to the summer being a slower time for a lot of organizations. Also, in spite of several great \u201cone-off\u201d events and workshops, there is a need for more sustained, long-term, and affordable projects as well as tools to better connect with the northern and western corners of the province.<\/span><\/p>\n

The resonating sentiment I have gathered from this research is a desire for exposure on the part of our community partners. People really want to share what they are doing with the widest audience possible and create interest in their programs. This has resulted in ArtBridges\/ToileDesArts providing a forum to share announcements of festivals, calls for submissions and a couple more in-depth looks at blossoming activities in the province.<\/span><\/p>\n

Most recently, I have been fortunate to tune in to some interesting developments happening in the Cornwall, SDG\u00a0 and Akwesasne areas. Just a few weeks ago, the CFDC (Community Futures Developement Corporations) hosted an Arts Summit, to which the community was invited to share artworks, attend special guest talks, and most importantly to elect a brand new Arts Council for the region. Though this project is still very young, hopes are high that this will insight further development of an already vibrant arts community and provide greater tools and opportunities for artists to hone their practices. I\u2019m excited to see what happens next!<\/span><\/p>\n
