{"id":13082,"date":"2013-05-07T06:23:55","date_gmt":"2013-05-07T10:23:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artbridgesblog.ca\/?p=13082"},"modified":"2013-05-07T06:23:55","modified_gmt":"2013-05-07T10:23:55","slug":"call-for-papers-that-highlight-the-power-of-the-arts-and-their-contribution-to-social-change-in-canada-deadline-may-15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artbridges.ca\/fr\/call-for-papers-that-highlight-the-power-of-the-arts-and-their-contribution-to-social-change-in-canada-deadline-may-15\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Papers &#8211; \u00ab\u00a0that highlight the power of the arts and their contribution to social change in Canada\u00a0\u00bb (deadline, May 15)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><span style=\"color:#ff9900;\"><strong>Call for Papers<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color:#ff9900;\"> <strong> POWER OF THE ARTS NATIONAL FORUM (Ottawa &#8211; 2013)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Organized by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fmjf.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Micha\u00eblle Jean Foundation<\/a> and Carleton University\u2019s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the inaugural <strong>Power of the Arts National Forum: Advancing Social Change<\/strong>, will take place between September 27 to 29, 2013, in Ottawa.<\/p>\n<p>Under the direction of Jean-Daniel Lafond, Co-Chair of the Micha\u00eblle Jean Foundation and Senior Fellow at the Faculty, and Dr. John Osborne, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Forum Organizing Committee is <strong>seeking papers that highlight the power of the arts and their contribution to social change in Canada<\/strong>, particularly in the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Public Safety and Access to Justice<\/li>\n<li>Mental and Physical Health<\/li>\n<li>Urban and Community Renewal<\/li>\n<li>Economic Development and Social Enterprise<\/li>\n<li>New Technologies and Social Change<\/li>\n<li>Cultural Institutions and Community Integration<\/li>\n<li>Diversity and Social Inclusion<\/li>\n<li>Democratic Participation<\/li>\n<li>Voice and Identity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Forum itself will gather over 150 researchers, policymakers, artists, legal scholars, mental health experts, and physicians, from across the country, to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Share research findings on the social and economic impact of the arts,<\/li>\n<li>Highlight best practices of grassroots efforts to generate social change through the arts and culture, and<\/li>\n<li>Identify interdisciplinary and inter-sector strategies to build stronger and more resilient communities in Canada.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Over the three days, Forum participants will help draft a national agenda identifying ways to generate new interdisciplinary research and social innovation for more inclusive, healthy and prosperous communities, through the arts and culture.<\/p>\n<p>A jury will select from the submissions to identity panellists who will make 20 minute oral presentations, followed by brief Q&amp;A, during Forum workshops.
