{"id":13125,"date":"2013-05-13T07:24:52","date_gmt":"2013-05-13T11:24:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artbridgesblog.ca\/?p=13125"},"modified":"2013-05-13T07:24:52","modified_gmt":"2013-05-13T11:24:52","slug":"job-opportunity-cultural-program-coordinator-native-canadian-centre-of-toronto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artbridges.ca\/fr\/job-opportunity-cultural-program-coordinator-native-canadian-centre-of-toronto\/","title":{"rendered":"Job Opportunity: Cultural Program Coordinator (Native Canadian Centre of Toronto)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/artbridges.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/07\/nativecanadiancentre_logo.jpg\" rel=\"PrettyPhoto[13125]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10314 alignright\" alt=\"nativecanadiancentre_logo\" src=\"http:\/\/artbridges.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/07\/nativecanadiancentre_logo.jpg\" width=\"180\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><strong>\u00ab\u00a0Position:<\/strong> Cultural Program Coordinator<br \/>\n<strong>Supervisor:<\/strong> Reports to the Executive Director<br \/>\n<strong>Summary:<\/strong> The creation of cultural programming to meet the needs and requests of the Aboriginal community of Toronto.<br \/>\n<strong>Duties and Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coordinate and manage the delivery of educational programs that cover Aboriginal history, spirituality, stories, songs, dances, regalia, languages, cultural values and beliefs for the community.<\/li>\n<li>Submit monthly reports to Executive Director and to develop all reporting and statistical gathering of cultural events and gatherings.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate staff and volunteers associated with the programs facilitated through the cultural department.<\/li>\n<li>Submit receipts for program expenditures to the finance department.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and submit yearend report to Indian and Northern Affairs Canada and the Executive Director.<\/li>\n<li>Source funding opportunities and prepare grants\/proposals for the Cultural Department.<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with Elders and Traditional Teachers.<\/li>\n<li>Assist the Elders and Traditional Teachers with their personal and functional requirements while they are participating in a NCCT initiative.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain high personal and professional standards.<\/li>\n<li>Supervise weekly \u201cBig Drum Social\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Promptly respond to any inquires about our Cultural programming.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thorough knowledge of the culture, language, history and traditions of First Nations, M\u00e9tis and Inuit Peoples.<\/li>\n<li>Native language skills an asset.<\/li>\n<li>University\/College graduate or work related experience with project facilitation, public relations and office management.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage several priorities simultaneously.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to prepare minutes, proposals, budgets and financial reports.<\/li>\n<li>Event planning and management.<\/li>\n<li>Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.<\/li>\n<li>Good verbal and written communication skills for interactions with Elders, Traditional Teachers, students and staff.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum three years\u2019 experience working in Aboriginal communities, two of which have been in an urban setting.<\/li>\n<li>Ontario Drivers Licence an asset.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent relationship building skills.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various community members.<\/li>\n<li>Current CPIC Required (Police Check)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>All resumes must be received by Tuesday May 21st, 2013 at 4:00pm.<\/strong><br \/>\nPlease email or forward resume and 3 references to: Larry Frost, Executive Director Larry.frost@ncct.on.ca * 16 Spadina Road * Toronto, Ontario* M5R2S7 * 416.964.9087<br \/>\nWe thank all applicants;
