Now in its third round of funding, the Youth Creativity Challenge has a history of sparking youth-led art projects in classrooms across the country, allowing grades K-12 students to collaboratively express their ideas and <strong>become active creators of their future<\/strong>. Since its inception in 2011, the Youth Creativity Challenge has engaged over 2,100 students from across the country that devised and led 25 projects. ArtsSmarts is gearing up to fund even more projects for the 2013-2014 year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The <strong>2013-2014 Youth Creativity Challenge Fund<\/strong> will provide cash support of <strong>$1,000 to $5,000<\/strong> per project. These\u00a0projects must engage at least one class and include at least one arts discipline and one curriculum subject matter.\u00a0Applications will be accepted from<strong> all Canadian private and public schools and families who are home-schooling.<\/strong> With\u00a0dynamic project-based learning, <strong>devised and led by students<\/strong>, the <strong>Youth Creativity Challenge<\/strong> is gaining momentum <strong>coast-to-coast<\/strong>, as an<strong> effective way to engage youth<\/strong> and address the big questions they have about themselves, their culture, and their heritage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">ArtsSmarts\u2019 Chair <strong>Rick Wolfe<\/strong> calls the <strong>Youth Creativity Challenge<\/strong>, <em>\u201c&#8230;a necessity in today\u2019s schools. ArtsSmarts focuses on the development of six core competencies of successful arts-infused project-based learning: Creativity, Collaboration, Inclusiveness, Inquisitiveness, Expressiveness &amp; Engagement.
