Call for Presentations: Acting Now for Social Change<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Are you conducting research on or spearheading an innovative arts-based initiative that addresses health, public safety, urban planning, entrepreneurship, democratic participation, or diversity? Do you have critical lessons to share with your peers from across Canada?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If so, the Micha\u00eblle Jean Foundation and the Carleton University Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences invite you to present at the second Power of the Arts National Forum: Acting Now for Social Change<\/a>, slated for November 7 to 9, 2014, in Ottawa.
\nThis year, the National Forum builds on the arts for social change action plan<\/a> developed at the inaugural Forum by more than 300 researchers, business leaders, legal experts, policymakers, urban planners, youth, health practitioners, artists, and representatives of other sectors.<\/p>\n

Submit Your Proposal<\/strong><\/span>
\nFor the Forum\u2019s workshops, we are soliciting presentations addressing the ways Canadians are implementing and\/or researching arts for social change initiatives, which relate or correspond to action items in the national plan. We invite you to submit a 500-word summary of your proposed presentation to the Forum Steering Committee, which will select eight presentations that reflect the following themes:
\n\u2022 Community and Urban Renewal
\n\u2022 Diversity and Social Inclusion
\n\u2022 New Technologies and Social Change
\n\u2022 Mental and Physical Health
\n\u2022 Democratic Participation
\n\u2022 Economic Development, Enterprise and the Social Economy
\n\u2022 Cultural Institutions and Community Integration
\n\u2022 Public Safety and Access to Justice<\/p>\n

Please note the following:<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u00b7 Your proposal must be sent to info@fmjf.ca, no later than midnight EST, on June 10, 2014,<\/strong>
\n\u00b7 It must be submitted as a Microsoft Word document attachment,
\n\u00b7 Beneath the title of your presentation, you must indicate:
\no The theme your presentation will address (e.g. democratic participation),
\no Your name,
\no Your title and the name of the organization or institution you represent, and
\no Your city and province\/territory.
\n\u00b7 In your document, you must explain how your presentation relates to one of the eight forum themes and to at least one action item in the arts for social change action plan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Avez-vous des enseignements essentiels \u00e0 partager avec vos pairs venus de l\u2019ensemble du Canada?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dans ce cas, la Fondation Micha\u00eblle Jean et la Facult\u00e9 des lettres et des sciences sociales de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Carleton vous invitent \u00e0 pr\u00e9senter un expos\u00e9 au deuxi\u00e8me Forum national Le Pouvoir des arts : agir maintenant pour le changement social<\/a> qui se tiendra du 7 au 9 novembre 2014, \u00e0 Ottawa.<\/p>\n

Cette ann\u00e9e, le Forum national s\u2019appuie sur le plan d\u2019action sur les arts comment outil de transformation sociale<\/a> \u00e9labor\u00e9 lors du premier Forum par plus de 300 chercheurs, chefs d\u2019entreprise, juristes, d\u00e9cideurs, urbanistes, jeunes, professionnels de la sant\u00e9, artistes et repr\u00e9sentants d\u2019autres secteurs.<\/p>\n

Soumettez votre proposition<\/strong><\/span>
\nNous sollicitons, pour les ateliers du Forum, des expos\u00e9s sur les fa\u00e7ons dont les Canadiens mettent en \u0153uvre et\/ou \u00e9tudient des initiatives dans lesquelles les arts sont mis au service du changement social et qui sont en rapport avec les \u00e9l\u00e9ments de notre plan d\u2019action national ou y correspondent. Nous vous invitons \u00e0 soumettre un r\u00e9sum\u00e9 de votre projet d\u2019expos\u00e9 en 500 motsau Comit\u00e9 directeur du Forum, qui choisira huit expos\u00e9s sur les th\u00e8mes suivants :
\n\u2022 Renouveau communautaire et urbain
\n\u2022 Diversit\u00e9 et inclusion sociale
\n\u2022 Nouvelles technologies et changement social
\n\u2022 Sant\u00e9 mentale et physique
\n\u2022 Participation d\u00e9mocratique
