{"id":16658,"date":"2014-10-23T06:21:51","date_gmt":"2014-10-23T10:21:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artbridgesblog.ca\/en\/?p=16658"},"modified":"2014-10-23T06:21:51","modified_gmt":"2014-10-23T10:21:51","slug":"jumblies-micro-grants-platform-a","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artbridges.ca\/fr\/jumblies-micro-grants-platform-a\/","title":{"rendered":"Micro-grants for artists and arts collectives interested in community-engaged arts: Platform A \/ Jumblies (Toronto)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/artbridgesblog.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/jumblies-logo.jpg\" rel=\"PrettyPhoto[16658]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13612\" alt=\"jumblies-logo\" src=\"http:\/\/artbridgesblog.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/jumblies-logo.jpg\" width=\"386\" height=\"497\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/artbridgesblog.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/artstarts-platform.jpg\" rel=\"PrettyPhoto[16658]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14689\" alt=\"artstarts-platform-a\" src=\"http:\/\/artbridgesblog.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/artstarts-platform.jpg\" width=\"339\" height=\"82\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00ab\u00a0<\/strong>As part of the Platform A, an initiative of the Toronto Arts Council, <a title=\"Jumblies\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jumbliestheatre.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Jumblies<\/strong><\/a> is pleased to announce that we will be awarding $12,000 in micro-grants for projects taking place between January and April 2015.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHAT?<\/strong><br \/>\nJumblies\u2019 micro-grants are for artists and arts collectives interested in community-engaged arts.<\/p>\n<p>By this we mean that the arts process should:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>combine social and artistic goals and desires,<\/li>\n<li>be connected to a non-arts community location, group or organization,<\/li>\n<li>involve participants from this community in developing, creating and presenting the art.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Jumblies\u2019 micro-grants can involve the following type or combination of activities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Project Development:<\/strong> supporting artists in gaining skills to start and manage a project.<\/li>\n<li>Activities could include developing an outline or proposal, producing digital support materials, or enlisting a mentor or consultant.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pilot Project:<\/strong> allowing artists to test an idea or aspect of a project &#8211; for example, trying out a workshop or series of workshops with a specific group. Pilot Projects can be independent, part of a larger or partnership Community Arts project.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Process:<\/strong> Micro-grantees, who have not already done so, are expected to attend Jumblies\u2019 Atfare Essentials, 6-day intensive orientation workshop (this year December 13-19).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each micro-grantee will also be assigned a Jumblies mentor \u2013 usually one of our Offshoot Artistic Directors &#8211; with whom they will meet at the start and at intervals throughout the project, for planning, ongoing guidance and evaluation. In consultation with Jumblies staff, micro-grantees can opt to work within an existing Jumblies affiliated project or location, or in a community of their own choice, providing they can demonstrate that they have the connections and support to do so.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHO?<\/strong><br \/>\nMicro-grants are available to artists and artist collectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>of any age<\/li>\n<li>from any arts discipline or tradition<\/li>\n<li>with basic arts training or equivalent experience<\/li>\n<li>who have lived in Toronto for at least one year<\/li>\n<li>who are trying to establish community arts skills and practice<\/li>\n<li>who do or don\u2019t have an existing connection with Jumblies<\/li>\n<li>who have not in the past received a grant from the Toronto Arts Council, the Ontario Arts Council or Canada Council for the Arts<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0in some cases, who have already received one Platform A micro-grant (ask if relevant)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>HOW MUCH?<\/strong><br \/>\nMicro-grants requests can range from $250 to $1,000. Jumblies has a total of $12,000 allocated from the Toronto Arts Council to award in micro-grants through Platform A.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHEN?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe application deadline is October 30th, 2014. Proposals can be e-mailed up until midnight.<br \/>\nWork supported by our Micro-grants and final reports must be must be completed by April 30.<br \/>\nMicro-grant recipients and their projects will be showcased at a Platform A event in May 2014.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HOW?<\/strong><br \/>\nContact Jumblies to discuss your proposal and make sure it\u2019s eligible.<br \/>\nSubmit a proposal that includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your name and contact information<\/li>\n<li>Artistic background (CV or bio) or background of the collective<\/li>\n<li>Your goals and desires for this project and longer-term<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0A short description of your project<\/li>\n<li>A description of how your project engages with communities<\/li>\n<li>Samples of previous art work (e.g. photos, DVD, written text, web-link)<\/li>\n<li>A simple budget to show how the funds will be spent<\/li>\n<li>One or two references if you don\u2019t have a prior connection with Jumblies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>NB &#8211; We accept written proposals in other languages (and can have them translated).
