{"id":17225,"date":"2015-02-13T06:35:29","date_gmt":"2015-02-13T10:35:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artbridgesblog.ca\/en\/?p=17225"},"modified":"2015-02-13T06:35:29","modified_gmt":"2015-02-13T10:35:29","slug":"safeab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artbridges.ca\/fr\/safeab\/","title":{"rendered":"Antyx Community Arts collaborates on video with Forest Lawn High School&rsquo;s Gay Straight Alliance (Calgary)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-17227\" alt=\"antyx-safeab\" src=\"http:\/\/artbridgesblog.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/antyx-safeab.jpg\" width=\"639\" height=\"216\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Forest Lawn High School students invite Albertans to change\u00a0the way we treat each other<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Students of Forest Lawn High School&rsquo;s Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) and\u00a0Antyx Community Arts have produced a video that highlights the experiences of\u00a0lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) students in\u00a0their high school, and the difference a GSA can make.<\/p>\n<p>Grade 11 student Sam Dyck says the benefits of having a GSA at Forest Lawn High\u00a0School are transformative. \u201cIt\u2019s a completely different world. Instead of us being\u00a0invisible in the school and hiding out, it has a changed the whole perception of our\u00a0school. It makes the whole school vibe more inclusive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The video was written, filmed and designed by the students. It is supported by a\u00a0hashtag campaign (#safeAB) that encourages Albertans to share their ideas or\u00a0thoughts on how to keep schools and communities safe and supportive for all\u00a0students.<\/p>\n<p>The students asked people from local theatre companies, religious organizations,\u00a0social activists, teachers, students and other community members to participate in\u00a0the video, called \u201c#safeAB: Changing The Way We Treat Each Other.\u201d It launched at\u00a0a special screening at Forest Lawn High School on Friday, Feb. 6.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"#safeAB : Changing The Way We Treat Each Other (Extended Version)\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mwdvN0cVIpg?feature=oembed&amp;hd=1;rel=0;showinfo=0&amp;theme=light&amp;modestbranding=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
