Exhibiting artists include: Dania Ansari, Joylyn Chai, Margaret Chown, Tara Dorey, Samira El-Kassis, Irit Epstein, Patricia Goudie, Luanne Maskell, Afsaneh Shafai, Patrice Stephen-Bourgeault, Virginia Tran, Marilyn Walsh, and Marnie White.<\/p>\n<p>Winter Gallery Hours:\u00a010 am to 5 pm<\/p>\n<p><strong>LITERARY ARTS COMPILATION<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>March 9 to 30, 2015<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Online at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/scarborougharts.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scarborougharts.com<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nWriters and poets creatively respond to the question, \u201cWho is your Unsung Shero?\u201d Pieces will be published on our website throughout March and will be showcased at our Opening Reception on\u00a0March 9.<\/p>\n<p>We are\u00a0<strong>STILL<\/strong>\u00a0accepting literary art submissions! Submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis until the end of March so keep working on your Unsung-Shero-themed poems or stories and send them to us! Find out more about the submissions process\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/scarborougharts.com\/unsung-sheroes-call-for-submission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>OPENING RECEPTION<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Monday, March 9<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>6 to 8 pm\u00a0at The Bluffs Gallery<\/strong><br \/>\nCelebrate with us as we open this important month with art, music, and ideas.\u00a0<strong>Kim Blackwell,<\/strong>\u00a0Managing Artistic Director of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/scarborough.s421.sureserver.com\/sites\/all\/modules\/civicrm\/extern\/url.php?u=1521&amp;qid=140584\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">4<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/scarborough.s421.sureserver.com\/sites\/all\/modules\/civicrm\/extern\/url.php?u=1521&amp;qid=140584\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/4thlinetheatre.on.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0Line Theatre \u2013 Millbrook<\/a>\u00a0and Director of\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nightwoodtheatre.net\/index.php\/whats_on\/her2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HER2<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<\/em>a play that tackles the difficult subject of the invasive breast cancer gene of the same name \u2013 will share her experiences as a woman working in today\u2019s theatre community. Be entertained by the music of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Pantayo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Pantayo<\/strong><\/a>, an all-women kulintang ensemble, and enjoy free food and refreshments provided by\u00a0<strong>Caribbean Flair Catering<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LUNCH &amp; LEARN\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Friday, March 13<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>12 noon to 2 pm\u00a0at The Bluffs Gallery<\/strong><br \/>\nJoin author\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.carolestaveley.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Carole Staveley<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in this intimate\u00a0<strong>Lunch &amp; Learn\u00a0<\/strong>event that will inspire and empower. Carole will talk about her book,\u00a0<em><strong>Not Lying Down<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>which chronicles her life and struggles as a woman suffering from chronic pain. She will focus on how she dealt with and overcame her debilitating health issues and went on to compete in the 2013 IRONMAN\u2122 event. Gain insight on how to achieve new heights in your physical well-being, and get a chance to win a signed copy of Carole Staveley\u2019s book!<\/p>\n<p>A free buffet lunch will be provided by\u00a0<strong>Caribbean Flair Catering<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CAREGIVER\u2019S REALITY ROUNDTABLE<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Tuesday, March 24<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>6 pm to 8 pm\u00a0at Taylor Memorial Library (1440 Kingston Road)<\/strong><br \/>\nLearn about the realities of dementia and its related illnesses, and identify what it means to be healthy with just a few, quick and easy steps. The roundtable discussion will be led by\u00a0<strong>Peter Marczyk<\/strong>\u00a0from the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/alz.to\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alzheimer Society of Toronto<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Gail Wilson\u00a0<\/strong>from\u00a0<strong>Balance Enterprise.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All events are\u00a0<strong>FREE<\/strong>\u00a0and open-to-all. In addition to free food and refreshments, there will also be\u00a0<strong>FREE arts activities for school-aged kids<\/strong>\u00a0available at all Unsung Sheroes events.
