We\u2019re hoping that by occasionally highlighting some profiles on our blog, you may learn about an initiative that you may not have initially seen in the directory. They have experienced great difficulties in life, a number still struggling with the negative impacts of the residential school system and colonialism. Yet even in the face of the social and psychological and economic difficulties they face, they create beautiful works of art. They are carvers, painters, craftspeople, they draw on traditional art forms and styles but make them their own &#8211; bringing their own experiences, their own perceptions into every piece, whether a small carving done while sitting on the street, or a magnificent acrylic painting on a ceremonial drum, or a classic painting on canvas.
