As a free community event House of PainT takes hip hop back to its roots \u2013 promoting community consciousness, political awareness and artistic development through art, dance, music and spoken word\u00a0\u00bb!<\/p>\n A festival not to miss!<\/p>\n WEDNESDAY Sept 9th MIC CHECK LAUNCH PARTY THURSDAY Sept 10th The return of their yearly signature poetry slam event!<\/p>\n Location: 317 Bank Street, Ottawa K2P 1X0<\/p>\n BEATS: BEAT BATTLES \u00ab\u00a0To offer a platform for the city’s hip hop beat makers to showcase their craft, they are partnering with the Ottawa Beat League (OBL). In front of a live audience, Ottawa\u2019s finest beat makers are showcased in a three-round challenge. With two beat battles under OBL\u2019s belt, OBL @ HoP will be the third edition of the Ottawa Beat League\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n Location: 317 Bank Street, Ottawa K2P 1X0<\/p>\n FRIDAY Sept. 11th Concert Under the Bridge<\/p>\n Friday nights are a long-time favourite at HoP. Featuring preliminary rounds of the recently introduced 1v1 popping battle, opening of the Arts Market, and a number of performances by high profile MCs and DJs, join us under the bridge to Rock The House!<\/p>\n Location: Under the Dunbar Bridge, 100 Brewer Way, Brewer Park<\/p>\n SATURDAY Sept. 12th The four elements are live all day with music performances, a variety of children\u2019s activities and workshops, and concession stands selling art, clothes, crafts and food. Under the bridge, 60+ graffiti artists paint live on Ottawa\u2019s first legal graffiti wall; the top four finalists of the 1v1 popping battle and dance crews from all over Canada battle for the Grand Prize. Their Main EvenT is not to be missed!<\/p>\n Location: Under the Dunbar Bridge, 100 Brewer Way, Brewer Park Pass the Mic: Bridging the Gap Between the Old and New School<\/p>\n Since the first Knowledge Conference in 2013, this series of learning events allows HoP to gather cultural innovators and professionals to learn and network in a community of artists. Including panel discussions, master classes, workshops, a keynote speaker, and a wind-down networking evening, this year will feature sessions for professional development of Hip Hop music professionals.
