This dynamic position is perfect for a highly motivated, organized, self-motivated, friendly and confident individual.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Native Women in the Arts (NWIA)<\/strong> is Canada\u2019s leading arts organization for Indigenous women artists working at the intersection of traditional and contemporary artistic practices. Native Women in the Arts vision is the reclamation and advancement of Indigenous cultural and artistic expression by Indigenous women within the diverse artistic landscape of Turtle Island. The Miiyuu Piimaatswiin: Living a Good Life symposium will offer Indigenous women arts leaders a space to stimulate positive dialogue and wellness practices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Event Associate Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work closely with the Symposium Director, NWIA Artistic Producer and NWIA Arts Administrator to plan, develop, administer and implement the Miiyuu Piimaatswiin Symposium;<\/li>\n<li>Assist with all aspects of the symposium\u2019s planning, coordination, and production including securing accommodation, schedule implementation, technical arrangements, contract processing, and tech relations etc.;<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate and assist with all outreach plans and partners including researching and identifying key contacts within community;<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate and plan outreach initiatives;<\/li>\n<li>Support the needs of all symposium collaborators, facilitators and participants;<\/li>\n<li>Assist with managing budget and all aspects of administrative processes including some report writing;<\/li>\n<li>Participate in and meet with key production partners including venue, partners, and sponsors;<\/li>\n<li>Assist with all aspects of communication, publicity, and promotion including relations with partners and participants, reviewing and ensuring accuracy of written documents, executing distribution of documents, active online social networking etc.;<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate and assist with design concepts, marketing distribution plan, and execution;<\/li>\n<li>Act as the event symposium ambassador and promoter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Skills and Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A keen interest and desire to work in event planning and management;<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of and\/or experience in arts and cultural activity with a commitment to Indigenous arts, wellness and worldviews;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent verbal and written communication;<\/li>\n<li>Strong interpersonal and motivational skills;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate and liaise with community members, groups, general public, and partners;<\/li>\n<li>Have administrative, computer and online social media skills;<\/li>\n<li>Be flexible and creative in problem solving;<\/li>\n<li>Be able to work solo and collaboratively;<\/li>\n<li>Be comfortable taking initiative;<\/li>\n<li>Must self-identify as being Aboriginal from Canada.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Info:<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is a two month contract at 24 hours per week from April 10 to June 10, 2016. This position is sponsored by Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training.
