This multi-arts event that brings together emerging and professional artists to showcase Scarborough\u2019s artistic diversity and vibrancy.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to providing a platform for local artists to sell and display their work, <a href=\"http:\/\/scarborougharts.com\/aip-harrison-2016\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Art in the Park: Harrison Properties<\/a> encourages artists and the public to create artistic experiences collaboratively and to engage with art in all its forms as a community through various interactive and accessible inter-arts activities throughout the day. All activities are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights of the event include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Over 40 local artist vendors and makers<\/strong> selling their paintings and crafts<\/li>\n<li><strong>Art Battle<\/strong> live painting competition featuring audience members and emerging and professional artists<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>writing workshop<\/strong> with University of Toronto Scarborough professor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.danielscotttysdal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Scott Tysdal<\/a> organized by <a href=\"http:\/\/obpo.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Open Book Publishers Organization<\/a> and the Toronto Arts Council as part of the What\u2019s Your Story Scarborough? event series<\/li>\n<li><strong>Readings by What\u2019s Your Story Scarborough? authors<\/strong> Cherie Dimaline, Liam Card, Elana Wolff, and Leanne Simpson<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>panel discussion on the future for emerging artists<\/strong> in Scarborough featuring artists from <a href=\"http:\/\/ypluscontemporary.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Y+ contemporary<\/a>, moderated by Scarborough Arts Program Director Sasha Kovacs<\/li>\n<li>In addition, the event features a <strong>silent auction<\/strong> (with proceeds supporting Scarborough Arts\u2019 children and youth programs), <strong>poetry and fiction readings<\/strong> by Scarborough Arts members, and <strong>creative movement workshops<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the full schedule of activities, visit our <a href=\"http:\/\/scarborougharts.com\/aip-harrison-2016\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1637308699913137\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook event page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At the event, Scarborough Arts also announces its <strong>new slate of community arts programming for 2016-2017<\/strong>.
