As ArtBridges\u2019\u00a0Community-Engaged Arts Directory<\/a>\u00a0grows, we realize that it\u2019s a bit overwhelming to read through all of the profiles. We\u2019re hoping that by occasionally highlighting some profiles on our blog, you may learn about an initiative that you may not have initially seen in the directory. Also, if you know of a Canadian community-engaged arts for social change initiative that isn\u2019t in our directory, but should be, please\u00a0let us know<\/a>! Cahoots Theatre Company<\/strong><\/a> \u00ab\u00a0has the distinction of being the first professional company in Canada with a mandate to present culturally inclusive work, with a reputation for producing theatre of the highest artistic calibre at local, regional and national levels.<\/p>\n

The Deaf Artists & Theatres Toolkit (DATT)<\/a> <\/strong>serves as a resource to increase the feasibility of collaborations between professional theatre companies and Deaf artists as well as to increase engagement with Deaf audiences. This online toolkit provides a guide for theatre companies and is informed by Cahoots Theatre\u2019s research and learnings from the development and production of ULTRASOUND by deaf playwright, Adam Pottle in 2016, with input from the Deaf community, theatre community and audiences. A company interested in working with a Deaf artist or engaging with Deaf audiences can use these online resources for insights, processes, tips and templates, to sensitively and comprehensively navigate the development and production of a work involving Deaf artists and Deaf audiences in Canada.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n
