The\u00a0<b>Research\u00a0to\u00a0Practice\u00a0(R2P)\u00a0Talk\u00a0Series\u00a0<\/b>is a part of the\u00a0Alliance\u2019s commitment to the mental and physical wellbeing of professional\u00a0artists\u00a0and tertiary art students. Emotional contagion. The car ride home. Perfectionism and burnout. In this\u00a0talk, Dr. Katherine Tamminen explores psychosocial factors in the development and maintenance of peak performance as well as ways that coaches, teachers and parents can support the healthy development of talented performers and\u00a0artists.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dr. Katherine Tamminen<\/b>\u00a0is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology &amp; Physical Education at the University of Toronto and has worked as a consultant with athletes and performers at all levels.<\/p>\n<p><b>To register,\u00a0call\u00a0(416) 351-0239 or visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/artistshealth.com\/workshops\/r2p-perf-psych\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/artistshealth.com\/<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<b>Research\u00a0to\u00a0Practice\u00a0(R2P)\u00a0Talk\u00a0Series<\/b>\u00a0investigates the mental and physical\u00a0health\u00a0of\u00a0artists\u00a0as well as performance science, the study of how to train and prepare for greater excellence and injury\u00a0prevention. Talks draw on\u00a0research\u00a0to make practical applications in the lives of\u00a0artists\u00a0as well as those who train and treat them. Musculoskeletal issues, psychology and mental wellbeing, ergonomics, instructional theory, neuroscience and the pragmatics of sustaining an artist&rsquo;s career are all on the table.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<b>Artists\u2019\u00a0Health\u00a0Alliance<\/b>\u00a0is committed to enhancing the wellbeing of professional performing and creative\u00a0artists\u00a0as well as students in, and teachers at, recognized post-secondary arts institutions.
