There are three categories:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Community arts projects: to help cover the costs of participatory activities that promote learning, collaboration and\/or engagement in the arts.<\/li>\n<li>Indigenous languages through the arts: to help cover the costs of artistic and community-engaged projects in which the primary purpose is the transmission of Indigenous languages through the arts.<\/li>\n<li>Training for community artists and animators: to help cover the costs of Indigenous artists and animators working in community and non-arts settings to seek training and mentorship opportunities that will strengthen their community arts, arts training or arts education practice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Deadline Dates<\/strong><br \/>\nFebruary 22 and September 19, 2017, 1 p.m. ET<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applications will be available online approximately two months before the deadline.<\/li>\n<li>Grant notification approximately four months after the deadline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Grant amount(s)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Community arts projects: maximum $15,000<\/li>\n<li>Indigenous languages through the arts: maximum $15,000<\/li>\n<li>Training for community artists and animators: maximum $15,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Important: Due to the number of applications received and the limited funds available, grants awarded may be smaller than the amount requested.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What&rsquo;s changed this year<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The program was previously called Aboriginal Artists in Communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Who is eligible<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Professional artists and Elders who self-identify as First Nations, M\u00e9tis or Inuit, and are Ontario residents.<\/li>\n<li>Ad hoc group\/collectives comprised of individuals, of whom at least 50 per cent identify as Indigenous.<\/li>\n<li>Not-for-profit Indigenous organizations, centres and councils.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants must have a permanent physical address in Ontario.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Who is not eligible<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students<\/li>\n<li>Municipalities, colleges and\/or universities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"Eligibility Requirements\" href=\"http:\/\/www.arts.on.ca\/grants\/general-granting-information\/guide-to-oac-project-programs\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">More about eligibility for OAC\u2019s project programs<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>What this program funds<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Community-engaged co-creation, production, exhibitions and presentations, in all arts disciplines.<\/li>\n<li>Workshop series, art camps, summer programs, experiential arts learning activities and after-school art programs.<\/li>\n<li>Community-based arts activities held in schools, community centres, health centres, home studios, galleries, site specific and on the land.<\/li>\n<li>Training for artists who wish to improve their skills and work in community settings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What this program does not fund<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Events or activities that take place outside of Ontario<\/li>\n<li>Fundraising activities<\/li>\n<li>Capital expenses<\/li>\n<li>Talent shows<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Important: You cannot apply to this program if you have an overdue final report in any OAC grant program.<\/p>\n<p>For more information and to apply for this grant program, please visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arts.on.ca\/grants\/indigenous-artists-in-communities-projects\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ontario Arts Council website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em><small>-from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arts.on.ca\/grants\/indigenous-artists-in-communities-projects\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ontario Arts Council website<\/a><\/small><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00ab\u00a0Purpose The program supports projects that bring together professional Ontario-based Indigenous artists or Elders to work with individuals or groups of people from a community on collaborative activities that create a meaningful arts experience and transmit artistic skills and knowledge.
