{"id":460,"date":"2010-02-08T13:01:23","date_gmt":"2010-02-08T13:01:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artbridgesblog.ca\/?p=460"},"modified":"2010-02-08T13:01:23","modified_gmt":"2010-02-08T13:01:23","slug":"profile-arts-network-for-children-and-youth-national","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artbridges.ca\/fr\/profile-arts-network-for-children-and-youth-national\/","title":{"rendered":"Profile: Arts Network for Children and Youth (ANCY)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/artbridges.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/02\/ancy2.png\" rel=\"PrettyPhoto[460]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-471\" title=\"ANCY\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/artbridges.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/02\/ancy2.png\" width=\"510\" height=\"103\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsnetwork.ca\/\">Arts Network for Children and Youth (ANCY)<\/a> was <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">founded<\/span> in 2001\u00a0by\u00a0Linda Albright.\u00a0It is a\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">national\u00a0community arts resource<\/span>, specific to children and youth arts based programs in the community and primarily outside of the school.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Its <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">mandate<\/span> is\u00a0to 1.\u00a0\u00a0conduct community development, 2. influence policy and affect change within the children&rsquo;s and youth art sector\u00a0\u00a03. be an arts service organization in order to enable\u00a0cultural progress.<\/p>\n<p>ANCY\u00a0has been <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">instrumental<\/span> in getting small pockets of funding for the arts sector for children and youth (\u00a0for example: ArtReach Toronto.) It has numerous active collaborative partnerships. ANCY sits on several national and provincial boards where it shares reports about what&rsquo;s happening in the sector; the challenges, as well as progress. ANCY reaches politicians, elected officials, and policy staff.\u00a0 It networks people so that they can connect with and mentor each other within the sector.\u00a0 Reports and case studies can be found on the ANCY website.<\/p>\n<p>ANCY&rsquo;s\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">outreach mandate<\/span> is to source resources in order \u00a0for children and youth to get more access to arts at the local level. It also seeks to facilitate greater awareness in the field.\u00a0As an\u00a0established\u00a0community art\u00a0resource with years of knowledge and experience, it is\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">interested\u00a0in partnering<\/span> or doing outreach with other community arts projects\/programs\/organizations\/resources.\u00a0ANCY&rsquo;s <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">catchment area<\/span> is\u00a0national in scope.\u00a0\u00a0It \u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">actively contributes<\/span> at forums, conferences, round tables and meetings both federally and provincially.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>ANCY&rsquo;s\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">goals<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"> this year<\/span> are: strengthening their staff base, increasing community development, and working with funders to build a broader funding base for arts programming within the sector. Additionally,\u00a0their <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">greatest goal<\/span> is\u00a0to complete their policy document\/ tool kit. It explains the \u00ab\u00a0what, why, how\u00a0\u00bb for the children&rsquo;s and youths arts sector. It contains research on infrastructure and program examples, \u00a0staffing requirements (skills and training), as well as case studies.
