Register by calling or emailing Terri at 422-54805\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:info@4csfoundation.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">info@4csfoundation.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\"><strong>Using the Creative Arts in Community Training Intensive\u00a0 June 13 \u2013 17, 2011<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In this week long training intensive participants will explore the principles and practices involved in using the creative arts in community.<\/p>\n<p>If you are an arts worker, educator, community worker or activist who wants to develop advanced skills in working in community settings using the arts, then this program is for you.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000;\">Areas covered will include:<\/span><br \/>\n&#8211; design and facilitation of creative art programs<br \/>\n&#8211; participatory experiences of different art forms (including theatre, dance, music and visual arts)<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0approaches to personal and social transformation<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0using an anti-oppressive framework to work with issues of diversity, inclusivity and identity in different communities<\/p>\n<p>Participants will have the opportunity to practice designing and facilitating creative arts experiences in a supportive, reflective context.<br \/>\n<strong>Training Facilitator:<\/strong>\u00a0Tessa Mendel (see bio below).<br \/>\n<strong>Dates:<\/strong>\u00a0June 13 to 17, 2011 inclusive. You must be able to attend each day for the entire week.<br \/>\n<strong>Time:<\/strong>\u00a010 am to 4 pm.<br \/>\n<strong>Fee:<\/strong>\u00a0$275.00 (This fee has been subsidized by the 4Cs Foundation to offer the training at an accessible cost of $55\/day.)<br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0The Bloomfield Centre at Agricola and Almon Streets: Seniors Resource Room.<br \/>\n*The training is limited to 16 participants. She has developed and facilitated numerous community-based theatre projects throughout much of Canada and internationally (Ethiopia, Jamaica). Tessa has taught courses on popular theatre, developmental theatre and theatre as a tool for critical literacy at Memorial, Acadia and Dalhousie Universities and in the Graduate Education program at Mount Saint Vincent University. Tessa has facilitated programs on Creative Arts Facilitation and Educational Design in multiple contexts including the Tatamagouche Centre and the Maritime School of Social Work. She was the founding director of a company that worked with youth to create plays about their issues in Toronto\u2019s public housing communities and the founding director of the Women\u2019s Theatre and Creativity Centre of Nova Scotia, with a mandate of connecting women and community, creativity and social change.
