Art Starts<\/strong><\/a> is an award-winning charitable, not-for-profit organization committed to arts-based community development in the city of Toronto. Our mandate is to build healthier communities using the arts. We are a growing organization currently operating five sites across the city.<\/p>\n

Position Summary:<\/strong> As the Programs and Event Assistant, student(s) will support the many events and celebrations associated with five Art Starts summer programs.<\/p>\n

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Developing marketing & communications materials (e.g flyer design, web & Facebook postings…),
\n\u2022 Recruiting volunteers, outreach, liaising with all partners (e.g. police, artists,
\nparticipants…),
\n\u2022 Assisting during programs set up and take down\/clean up
\n\u2022 Administrative support, purchasing supplies, finding venues, etc.
\n\u2022 The students will be assisting with the following five programs:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Dusk Dances<\/li>\n
  2. The Element, a summer program for teens from one Lawrence Heights and Neptune<\/li>\n
  3. communities.<\/li>\n
  4. Mural Program & Celebration.<\/li>\n
  5. Art in XS \u2013 a creative summer camp for children<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong>
    \n\u2022 You must be a student between 15 and 25 who is returning to school full time in September 2011.
    \n\u2022 Interested in community arts and working with racialized and underserved communities.
    \n\u2022 Able to multi task and work within set deadlines and possess excellent organizational
    \n\u2022 Excellent communication and people skills.
    \n\u2022 Good written and verbal communication skills.
    \n\u2022 Able to work well with other and possess great interpersonal skills.
    \n\u2022 Dedicated, enthusiastic and responsible.
    \n\u2022 An arts background and experience is an asset.<\/p>\n
