The individual will assist with a variety of tasks with ANCY, a not-for-profit organization whose vision is for all children and youth have access to arts and creative activities in their communities. These tasks will allow the successful applicant to gain a wide range of skills in arts administration including program evaluation, outreach and communications, membership, capacity building, strategic planning, cultural mapping, event planning and general administration duties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">The successful candidate with be an enthusiastic, flexible, adaptable, creative self-starter who is able to take initiative, contribute ideas, work independently and also thrive in a team atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><strong>Tasks may include:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Program evaluation<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; Aid in analyzing, disseminating and documenting qualitative evaluation for National Youth Arts Week which was held May 1-7 2012<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><strong>Outreach and Communications<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; Assist in facilitating youth conversations around community art and engagement<br \/>\n&#8211; Develop and enhance ANCY\u2019s social media presence among youth artists<br \/>\n&#8211; Develop and foster strong relationships with youth, youth arts organizations and community development organizations across Canada through social media conversations<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><strong>Membership and Cultural Mapping<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; Assist in the development and execution of a membership program<br \/>\n&#8211; Update, manage and maintain database of member organizations, youth arts organizations, youth artists, media contacts, municipalities and politicians<br \/>\n&#8211; Develop comprehensive list of grants with due dates, eligibility requirements, application instructions<br \/>\n&#8211; Update and expand cultural mapping of arts organizations involved in children and youth programming and youth arts festivals across Canada<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><strong>Event Planning<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; Assist in the planning of a small-scale conference for youth artists from across Canada<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><strong>Administration<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; Field telephone and email inquiries; word processing; database inputting<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><strong>The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; Interest in arts management, youth engagement and community development<br \/>\n&#8211; Comfortable engaging with diverse communities of youth artists<br \/>\n&#8211; Familiar and comfortable with challenges of working with small non-profit organizations<br \/>\n&#8211; Experience in administration and\/or communication<br \/>\n&#8211; Effective communication skills &#8211; both written and verbal<br \/>\n&#8211; Experience with planning events and executing projects<br \/>\n&#8211; Proven ability to time-manage, prioritize and oversee multiple concurrent tasks<br \/>\n&#8211; Proven ability to adhere to project timelines and work to project deadlines<br \/>\n&#8211; Very familiar with Microsoft Office: Publisher, Word, Excel<br \/>\n&#8211; Knowledgeable about using Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Youtube<br \/>\n&#8211; Able to use Microsoft Access; database management skills a definite asset<br \/>\n&#8211; Experience with Adobe Creative Suite an asset<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><strong>Characteristics<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; Willing and able think creatively, develop new ideas<br \/>\n&#8211; Flexible, positive and responsive to suggestions<br \/>\n&#8211; Work well under pressure and tight timelines<br \/>\n&#8211; Highly organized and professional<br \/>\n&#8211; Friendly demeanour; an enthusiastic and positive team player<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Applicants must qualify for the HRDC Summer Student Position<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><strong>Eligible students:<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; are between 15 and 30 years of age;<br \/>\n&#8211; have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;<br \/>\n&#8211;
