“IRL brings together art + tech to develop novel methods of facilitating community connection and momentum building that prioritize those experiencing the greatest risk of exclusion when technology becomes the only source of connection.
3 Artists and 3 technologists will participate in an 11 week (June 15 – Aug 31, 2020) facilitated, virtual, incubator, where, with the support of mentors, advisors and facilitators, they will work in teams to develop and implement three projects together. Each artist and technologist will receive a $2,500 honorarium for their participation, and up to $1,000 will be allocated for material costs, as needed, by each project. Scope of all projects will be developed through the co-curation process with the only expectation that they explore methods to reach people beyond their screens.
Support in identifying, accessing and navigating off-screen sites safely will be available through the residency process, as needed by each project.
All levels of experience are encouraged to apply. Duos and collectives will be considered. Applicants must be 18 years or older, and must be currently living in Canada.”
