Call to Artists: City’s 50th Anniversary Art Bus (City of Thunder Bay Public Art Program)

Deadline: Wednesday, February 19, 1pm

“The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to offer this public art opportunity for artists, or artist-teams, to create artwork that will be displayed on the exterior of a City of Thunder Bay Transit Bus in 2020.

New or existing artwork is acceptable, provided that the existing artwork does not make up the entire design, i.e. portions only. The selected artwork will be printed onto adhesive-backed vinyl and applied to the surface of the Transit Bus’s exterior.

This project is supported by the City’s Public Art Committee. Project funding is provided by City of Thunder Bay’s Cultural Development and Events Section, the City’s Corporate Strategic Services Division, and Clean Green and Beautiful Committee. Other funders may be included in the project prior to finalization. Please note that logos may need to be added to your design prior to final acceptance of artwork.

Applicants must live/work/attend school in the City of Thunder Bay. Applicants who currently reside outside of Thunder Bay, but who have lived in Thunder Bay for at least 10 years and/or artists who can demonstrate that Thunder Bay has played a direct role in their success are also eligible to apply. Emerging and more established artists are both welcome to apply. Previous experience doing similar public projects will be considered an asset.”
