From 32-storey high-rises to underpass skate parks, Toronto is enjoying a great new splash of mural art. Keeping pace with an expanding public wall art scene, local arts service organization Mural Routes will be hosting influential figures from the mural art world during the 17th National Mural Symposium in Toronto from October 23 – 25.

The National Mural Symposium runs at Harbourfront Community Centre and The Strathcona Hotel from October 23-25, and promises three inspiring and informative days of creative, technical and administrative conference sessions about public wall art. It also offers second-to-none networking opportunities with the most knowledgeable muralists and project administrators in the field.

Highlights include:

  • Municipalities – Mural funding, programs and policies
  • with a panel from Canada and the U.S.
  • Graffiti art/graffiti vandalism – Changing the dynamic
  • An interactive discussion about solutions to graffiti vandalism.
  • Bill Wrigley: Toronto in perspective – Veteran mural artist Wrigley on painting the walls of Toronto and beyond for over 30 years.

  • Mural Tour – Artist-led tour to Underpass Park, Corktown to view the underpass pillar murals in this reclaimed urban space.
