Art for Social Change: Weaving Together Just Livelihoods (Halifax & online)

Art for Social Change: Weaving Together Just Livelihoods (Halifax & online)

What does it mean to make a good life?
What does a just livelihood look like?
How did we get here, and where are we going?

Join FUTURES/forward artist Yasmine Hassen for a facilitated art-making workshop series to explore these questions through the practices of collaging, paper weaving, and storytelling. We will engage with themes such as just futures, deep time, decolonization, climate justice, and practices of reclamation. Over the course of the sessions, hosts + participants will share tools and practices that can be used as a powerful way to engage, reflect and mobilize around just livelihoods.

On a practical level, we’ll be playing with paper! Cutting, weaving, and gluing to create our own expressions of a good life, a just livelihood, and our place in the fabric of time. You’ll also have the chance to talk about the art you’ve made, and if you choose, you can include your creations and your voice in a collective installation at the Ecology Action Centre on Fern Lane.
