Workshop – At the Heart of the Matter: Personal Storytelling in a Digital World (Winnipeg)

“At the Heart of the Matter: Personal Storytelling in a Digital World is guided by a storytelling process introduced by Story Center www.storycenter.org over 20 years ago. Since then it has found its way into many fields in North America and internationally. It has been used as a transformative resource by social service and health providers; educators, oral history researchers and librarians; and by groups committed to building community and to social, environmental, and political change.

In this workshop Community Works facilitators provide:

  • A safe and respectful storytelling space where participants can listen deeply to their own stories and to others’;
  • Tutorials on video editing tools used to create short (2-5 minute) multi-media, first-person stories.

The process ends with a screening of the completed videos.

Community Works offers At the Heart of the Matter public workshops on a regular basis. The next public workshop is scheduled for Nov. 3-5, 2017.

Community Works also develops storytelling projects through partnerships with host organizations.

We provide start to finish project planning and development services, including assistance with community engagement strategies and fundraising through proposal development.
