Back to School: PD Series for Performing Artists Working in Schools (Prologue Performing Arts)

Are you a performing artist with a passion for arts education and working with young people? If so, consider joining us at Back to School!

Presented in partnership by Prologue Performing Arts and WorkInCulture, Back to School: Professional Development for Performing Artists Working in Schools will take participants through the complexities of working in schools and provide tools to support their arts education practice. While the workshops will be open to artists working in all disciplines, there will be focus placed on the performing arts due to Prologue’s organizational mandate. Designed for artists of all levels of experience!

Thursday May 7, 2020; 6:00 – 8:00pm

Ask an Artist – Covering the complexities of working in schools from the perspective of artists, including what tools, resources and considerations are needed to engage young people and navigate the school system. Facilitated by spoken word artist Britta B and Marcus Lundgren of DuffleBag Theatre.

Thursday, May 14, 2020; 6:00 – 8:00pm

Ask an Educator – Building on topics covered in Asks the Artists, this session will include a greater focus on the perspective of educators in terms of bringing artists into schools. Facilitated by Lorraine Sutherns, Central Lead Teacher – The Arts, TDSB.

Thursday May 21, 2020; 6:00 – 8:00pm

Inclusive Practice – This session will explore how artists can better deliver inclusive programming in schools through an inclusive design approach that meets the needs of all students. Facilitated by Parul Pandya, Community Impact Non-Profit Consulting

Registration for all workshops is $15 per session. All workshops take place at Ernest Balmer Studio, 9 Trinity St #316, The Distillery District, Toronto.
