The BOLDSKOOL Collective is a group of artists from diverse cultural backgrounds and artistic practices dedicated to improving their craft as performing artists. They will receive ongoing training from professional artists that focuses on varied aspects of performance work. Instruction will focus on an interdisciplinary approach to live performance creation. The program is open to artists of any and all disciplines. These disciplines include but are not limited to: actors, spoken word artists, poets, playwrights, directors, designers, musicians/vocalists, visual artists, street artists, and traditional/contemporary indigenous arts practitioners. We aim to implement a progressive, inclusive model of training that celebrates the diverse voices of our community. The collective is at the heart of everything Urban Ink creates as a company, and supports us in building bridges with broader cultural and artistic communities. The collective provides a home for artists to grow their own artistic work, and a chance to collaborate and have an ongoing, meaningful relationship to the next generation of live performance artists and creators.

PURPOSE

  • To build bridges between artistic and cultural communities.
  • To facilitate access to training, knowledge and professional resources.

  • To expose collective members to a variety of local performances in multiple disciplines and engage in collective member led feedback sessions where work is given context, analyzed, and constructively criticized. The collective will engage in post-performance talk-backs with artists where possible.
