Call to Artists!: Creative Mosaics (Scarborough)

“Call to Artists… Please share your experiences with us!

We are looking for newcomer artists and artists from diverse cultural backgrounds who create and practice any form of art and culture.

Creative Mosaics: Mentoring in Community Arts & Cultures – A Needs & Capacity Assessment is a collaborative project created to respond to the lack of culturally inclusive arts programming available for newcomers, youth and culturally diverse communities in Scarborough. Creative Mosaics is working to identify ways that arts organizations, like the Scarborough Arts Council, can best support artists of diverse cultural backgrounds.

Your stories will help us:
Identify barriers and challenges to inclusion of newcomer and artists from diverse cultural backgrounds in the community-arts and arts and cultural sector in Toronto and Scarborough.
Discover ways arts organizations can best support and work with newcomer artists and artists from diverse ethno-cultural and racial backgrounds.
Learn the importance of recognizing traditional and non-traditional artistic and cultural practices that reflect diverse ethno-cultural and ethno-racial experiences.

Keep in mind that this research will drive and guide the development of future arts and cultural programming at Scarborough Arts Council, along with informing the work of other arts organizations in the city.

If you’re interested in participating please contact the Creative Mosaics project at cian@scarborougharts.com or 416-698-7322. Interviews will take approximately 30 minutes in length.
