CommunityCompass-Logo

“Community Compass is a community art project taking place during Spring 2013 at St. Joseph A McKay Elementary School in North End Halifax, NS. This is an initiative of the Ecology Action Centre with a community arts grant from the 4Cs Foundation and funding from Cultural Opportunities for Youth, Communities, Culture and Heritage, NS. Local artists Heather Wilkinson, Jyelle Vogel, Jessica Winton, and Will Robinson facilitate the project. They share an interest in community art and the civic responsibility of artists’ to creatively contribute to the community.

Mission:
Community Compass is an exciting opportunity to bring together children, families, neighborhood folks, and community organizations together in a creative collaboration at St. Joseph’s A. McKay School. Community Compass continues the revitalization of our school ground as a vibrant community space culminating in an outdoor community art project. We hope the collaboration will create meaningful connections between participants and develop a sense of mutual care for our shared space.
