About: The Newcomer Arts Award is a micro-award program for newcomer (immigrant and refugee) artists. Sponsored by RBC the Newcomer Arts Award is designed to support the future potential of newcomer artists across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) working in a range of disciplines. These $2,500 awards are intended to support each recipient’s artistic practice.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must be:
- An artist who has lived in Canada for 7 years or less
- A Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, Approved Refugee Claimant (i.e. Protected Person) or have applications for permanent residency or citizenship pending
- Over 18 years old
- A resident of the City of Toronto OR Halton, Peel, York, Durham municipalities
- NOT have received this award in 2022
