Outside Looking In Future Leaders Project Seeking Mentors (Toronto)

“Last year, OLI introduced a new pilot initiative, called the Future Leaders Program, that enabled returning and graduating youth to learn skills that will best support them in future career choices and post-secondary education.

Each youth was paired with a mentor to encourage them to explore opportunities beyond the boundaries of their community. OLI is delighted to announce that the five future leaders last year were: Lance Geyshick, Kodi Trudeau, John Geyshick, Chad Geyshick and Jessica Atatise. Their choreography and bright red jackets were the showstoppers at the annual event, and the standing ovation from the audience was a testament to their stellar achievements.

Already this year, we have increased interest in the program, with youth from all of our communities eager to apply and to secure a spot in the program. To do so, youth have to maintain perfect attendance for the month of November, fundraise for their trip to Toronto, and ensure that they are meeting their school’s academic requirements. Youth who are successful will participate in a week-long camp at Tim Horton’s Onondaga Farms, Feb 9th-15th. During this time, youth will attend workshops on leadership, team building, and resume writing, and will enjoy a celebratory dinner with their mentors in downtown Toronto.

OLI hopes to continue growing this program and supporting youth to dream big! If you are interested in mentoring an OLI Future Leader, please contact Maureen Hatherley at pm2@olishow.com.” (from OLI newsletter)
