Social Circus Circle (SCC) is a Toronto based organization that uses the positive culture and diversity of circus arts to provide social development and support for young people on the margins, 14-29 years old. We work in partnership with various community programs such as SKETCH: a Toronto program bringing arts to street involved youth and Kensington Pedestrian Sundays where our group has an opportunity to perform (supported by the Toronto Arts Council), as well as the Art Gallery of Ontario’s free programming for young people: Free After Three. SCC, with the support of the Ontario Arts Council, also brings programming to TDSB public alternative secondary schools, including The Triangle Program (a program where LGBT youth can learn and earn credits in a safe environment with curriculum which includes and celebrates LGBT literature, history, persons and issues), Oasis Alternative: Arts and Social Change Program, Heydon Park and the Aboriginal Education Centre Secondary School program. It is our mission to be able to provide ongoing , stable, accessible Social Circus workshops to young people on the margins.”
