Sheatre is here with fun and creative help. This spring, Sheatre’s Artistic Director Joan Chandler will lead the Spring Workshop Series, a series of experiential workshops in Owen Sound open to interested participants of all experience levels. This series will actively explore different techniques and exercises from Augusto Boal’s ‘Theatre of the Oppressed’ where interactive theatre and improvisation are used as a tool to promote positive social change and personal development. This isn’t therapy; they’re informative training workshops. Taken individually or as a whole the Spring Workshop Series is ideal for community workers, counselors, educators, performers, directors, activists, social change advocates and anyone interested in Sheatre’s mission to use theatre and the arts to empower individuals and contribute to a healthy, compassionate society.”

FORUM THEATRE WEEKEND
Forum Theatre is a UNESCO-recognized educational tool for implementing social change and is a form of interactive theatre that enables a community to explore multiple strategies in response to a problem or conflict presented in a short play. This two-day workshop, lead by Sheatre Artistic Director Joan Chandler and Artistic Associate Warren Bain, will introduce participants to the different aspects of Forum Theatre and explore creation, improvisation, intervention and facilitation. Learn how theatre can be a vessel for putting our words into action and give voice to advocacy.
When: March 2 & 3, 2019. 10 am – 5 pm each day
Where: OPSEU Owen Sound Regional Office, 100 – 1717 2nd Ave East, Owen Sound, ON, N4K 6V4
Attire: This is an interactive, participatory workshop. Dress for physical activity.
Minimum Age: 16+
