Tilescapes Opening Exhibition (Jumblies Theatre, Toronto)

Tilescapes Opening Exhibition (Jumblies Theatre, Toronto)

“In Fall 2018 ceramics artist, Parker Dirks, came weekly to The Ground Floor and worked with our artists and community participants to create ceramic tiles expressing landscapes mingling fantasy, memory and local surroundings.

These turned out so intricately and magnificently, that we have invited Parker back to finish the project through a residency this February at The Ground Floor.

Inspired by the tiles, Alex Eddington is creating collaborative vocal music and ambient soundscape created by ceramic fragments with our all-ages, all-abilities community choir, the Gather Round Singers, directed by Shifra Cooper, with accompanist Daev Clysdale.

Other Jumblies artists and associates – including Tijana Spasic, Jamie Oshkabewisens and Michelle Silagy – have been playing with ways to respond to and animate the tiles through sound, movement, storytelling, visual arts and live feed projections.

The opening of the Tilescapes will be an exhibition and performance event, and is FREE to the public.”
