As ArtBridges’ Community-Engaged Arts Directory grows, we realize that it’s a bit overwhelming to read through all of the profiles. We’re hoping that by occasionally highlighting some profiles on our blog, you may learn about an initiative that you may not have initially seen in the directory. “A group of older adults with an interest in the performing arts started Victoria Target Theatre Society in 1986 and the idea has grown into a company of mature actors who provide a voice for the concerns of seniors.
Target uses drama to address seniors’ issues because theatre stimulates and moves people in a way that is different from ideas learned through lectures or books. Target plays cover a variety of topics: dementia, safety, abuse, quality of life, death and dying ”
