Culture Days (Sept. 24 – Oct. 24)

“4 weeks of arts and culture experiences indoors, outdoors, and online.

A colourful adventure begins this week, with the launch of Culture Days on Friday, September 24, 2021, and continuing through to October 24. Grassroots community volunteers, public libraries, independent artists, major arts, culture, and heritage
institutions, speciality festivals, and municipalities stand ready to reopen the portal to a world of art and expression, again bolstering our creative curiosity and connection to each other when we need it most. There’s something for every taste with more than 1,600 free, immersive arts and culture events and activities planned for people to enjoy across the country outdoors, indoors or right from the comfort of home.

Arts and culture emerged as a lifeline of joy, providing gifts of colour, hope, and reprieve needed to make it through this past year. Collectively, we’re imagining what a post-pandemic world could look like and how we can each contribute to that picture being brighter. Through that lens, Culture Days has chosen RE:IMAGINE as the very apt 2021 theme.

RE:IMAGINE signals a positive turning point – the commitment to building tangible change into the future of arts and culture.

Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture. At the end of each September, millions of people attend thousands of free participatory arts and culture events across the country. Culture Days programs invite the public to get hands-on and behind-the-scenes to highlight the importance of arts and culture in our communities. In light of COVID-19, this year’s celebrations have again been extended to a 4-week run held indoors, outdoors and online. Read through our Culture Days 2021 page to find out more about this year’s festivities.”
