Job Description and Responsibilities:
- Develop the year-round summer and after-school arts program curriculum for the terrace / studio / virtual workshops, plan art supplies needed, coordinate and facilitate art activities along with staff, volunteers, and student placements, using a variety of artistic methods and materials
- Facilitate the arts program, leading volunteers & student placements and teaching children ages 4-16, of all levels of ability, with an average of 15-20 participants attending each workshop (number of participants will be based on government health and safety regulations as per pandemic and may increase as capacity allows)
- Conduct administration: take attendance, verify proof of vaccine certification for COVID 19, collect registration forms, field trip forms and COVID-19 screening forms as per ArtHeart policies and gov’t health and safety regulations; participate in daily program evaluation, enter participant data accurately into the database, assist with program administration as required, produce an end of the season report and participate in your performance evaluation review
- Assist with planning and providing supervision on field trips; i.e.: to Riverdale Farm, the Textile Museum, the AGO
- Support ArtHeart projects in local Regent Park festivals, events and activities as opportunities arise
- Seek and engage in community partner organization collaborations to enhance the Children’s and Youth Arts Program
- Ensure the health, safety and security of the studio / terrace workshops, and participants, as per ArtHeart policies, and government health & safety guidelines, as per pandemic. Help to keep the studio organized, clean and tidy, and help maintain inventory of art materials and supplies, including donations
- Provide conflict management for participants when needed, assuring safety and wellbeing. Report any incidents, in compliance w/ ArtHeart policies
- Work with the ArtHeart team on concurrent programming with the Youth Employment Program, Meal/Snack program, Art Activity Kits program and other programs as needed. Participate in program meetings, and contribute to program development
- Liaise and work with with parents/care-givers of participants as needed
- Communicate with parents/guardians & families with any messages, information and announcements about the program on behalf of ArtHeart
- Adhere to and help implement ArtHeart’s policies and procedures; be an ambassador to ArtHeart
Competencies & Requirements:
- graduate of a visual arts, arts education, community arts or similar degree program
- experience working in community-engaged arts
- experience working with children and youth
- demonstrated experience in a supervisory role (p/t or f/t)
- conduct or provide an up-to-date vulnerable sector police clearance

Time Required & Compensation:
- 20 hours per week; salary to be negotiated and is commensurate with qualifications and experience
- Start date: week of August 22nd; this position will carry on through the school year
