Thursday, April 9, 2015: MARKETING YOUR BRAND
Facilitated by: Priya Ramanujam, Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Urbanology Magazine
What’s in a brand? You will learn about various marketing strategies that will allow you to effectively promote and/or sell your practice, craft, or brand. The workshop will also touch upon how arts managers can identify and craft a specific marketing strategy for someone else’s brand or creative practice.
With social media being the widespread mode of promotion nowadays, the workshop will additionally focus on social media etiquette and on identifying how to leverage various social media outlets for a more impactful outcome.
Thursday, April 16, 2015: FUNDRAISING STRATEGIES
Facilitated by: Mike Prosserman, Founder and Executive Director, UNITY Charity
Every project or program requires financial support for it to take place. Learn about the different ways of fundraising to support your projects, including public and private sector funding, sponsorships, events and earned revenue, and individual donations. This is a hands-on workshop where you will get the chance to build a realistic fundraising plan for an existing project.

Learn to create the right budget for your project! Through existing budget templates, learn how to build a working budget that suits the type of project or event that you are planning. Learn tips and tools on how to be effective in tracking your finances, managing your cash flow, and keeping your costs within your budget limits.

Learn about SOCAN (the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) – a vital organization in Canada’s music industry – what they do as an organization and what they can do for you as a musician, producer, or music manager. This workshop will also help you understand your rights as an artist.
