« Abilities Arts Festival is in the unusual position of having last minute space at its upcoming Children’s Festival! This event which is coming up shortly – March 5 & 6– at the wonderful new Daniels Spectrum (Regent Park Cultural Centre) is normally booked to capacity months in advance with a long waiting list.
Due to the current job action by the Ontario public school teachers union, many teachers who had booked their groups to attend our festival have very reluctantly had to cancel! This is, of course, a great disappointment to the young audiences and to us.
We’d like to turn this unpredictable challenge into an opportunity to extend our Kids Fest to a wider audience. As the attached invitation indicates, with its mix of films, stories-telling, music and the brilliant B-Boy Luca ‘Lazylegz » Patuelli, we know that our festival will appeal to young people, the young at heart, their caregivers, teachers, health professionals, or those training in any of these areas.
- Do you know of an unaffiliated, private, French or religious school group who would welcome an outing?
- Or perhaps, a community day centre?
- How about classes for teachers preparing to work in early childhood education or with special needs?
Please feel free to pass along the attached information to any groups you think it might be of interest to.
There is NO CHARGE for attendance. We encourage a $5 donation per young person to cover the cost of the free T-shirt, lunch and snacks, but this is strictly optional.
Please feel free to contact Katie McMillan at katie@abilitiesartsfestival.org if you have any questions, or would like us to follow-up on one of your suggestions. »
