« We know that many emerging artists need professionally recorded digital content when they are applying for grant applications or for performance opportunities, and with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts’ Digital Now program, we are now launching the Recording Artist Development (RAD) Program.
This program will provide studio space for up to one month to write, rehearse and record original music. As part of that month-long residency at the Creative City Centre, artists will have access to a professional audio engineer, plus limited access to producer, arranger, supporting musicians and videographer. They will be able to spend time creating and experimenting in the studio, as well as learn best practices when it comes to recording in a professional studio setting. They will learn how to prepare a budget for recording sessions and will also receive a one-year membership to SaskMusic to access their excellent professional development and industry support initiatives.
At the conclusion of the residency, artists will have both audio and video content that can be used for the development of an electronic press kit for festival applications, or for funding applications with granting agencies like Creative Saskatchewan or FACTOR to support further recording sessions at one of the many commercial recording studios operating in Saskatchewan.
During this program, artists have access to:
- 1 month access to a studio space
- 20 hours a week with an professional recording engineer
- $1500 towards industry professionals (producers, mentors, musicians etc.)
- A videographer/photographer
Apply by December 12, 2021. Artists must live in the Regina area and must be working on original material. This program is limited to five artists/bands only, so we encourage interested emerging artists to submit their application as soon as possible. »
